Wild Card Bicycles

A bicycle is made up of metal tubing, a welding torch, mechanized components, two wheels, and the laws of physics.

Instead of the typical story of a bike builder's heart and soul rivaling big-box bicycle brands, we decided to explore a different narrative: the relationship between customer and builder. What if handmade bikes were about scheming and collaborating on a dream?

Challenge

Wild Card Bicycles in Opelika, AL creates handmade bikes custom-tailored to each rider. Owner and builder Jay Sandefur has over 30 years of experience designing, welding, and building bikes. He builds bikes because he loves creating and making his customers happy. Wild Card needed a rebrand and full creative content package. We partnered with a design group to build the brand and produced visuals, process imagery, brand film direction, and a social media package.

Answer

We focused on three simple statements: What sets Wild Card Bicycles apart? Why should the cyclist care? Who's behind the welding mask? We delivered a package of brand photography and video assets that reveal Wild Card and its shop.

Before our partnership, most of Wild Card's clients were regional. After we wrapped up the project, we secured a story on @theradavist, giving Wild Card Bicycles a national platform.
